How to patch your Echolink Receiver

What you must do to patch your Echolink Receiver:

First of all, do you have a null modem cable?
If not, go buy yourself one.
Make sure what you get is a null-modem cable. If the merchant doesn't know what it is, or is puzzled and asks you what it's for, go somewhere else.

If you have the correct cable, download yourself a loader from the Loader section. Try any of the Aliminiupg versions. Aliminiupg2 is recommended.

Download from here http://www.alsat.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=802

Download a patch from the Software section
here: http://www.alsat.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=801

If you've scanned in some channels already, and have lists and settings set up, backup your channels lists and settings...
Use menu > channel > "Save channel list and settings"
Default password is 0000
If you change and forget the password, the master password is 3327

Connect the null modem cable to your receiver and to your PC. Use a serial port if you have one, if you use a USB-Serial adapter, make sure you know what com port it's using.

Run your loader and select your downloaded patch.

If you have the option, select maincode for your upgrade type.
If it's your first time patching, and you have no lists or settings to save, use the allcode + bootloader option

Otherwise only use maincode or casdata to update your keys.

Turn your Echolink off.

Click "start" on your loader

Turn your Echolink on.

Your Echolink should now go into upgrade mode. Your loader will run some tests and start loading, and the dislay on your Echolink will show flashing and moving lights.

Leave it until the word "end" appears on your receiver.

Close your loader, and reboot your receiver.

Then you're done.

To turn the patch on/off use your remote to go to Menu and key in 2020
To enable/disable Auto-update use your remote to go to Menu and key in 2121

How to use the Premiere Portals...

...on your Echolink receiver:

There are three Portals on 19.2E:

Premiere Direkt Portal: 12031H 27500 Vpid 2815 Apid 2817
Premiere Sport Portal: 11719H 27500 Vpid 255 Apid 256
Premiere Erotik Portal: 12031H 27500 Vpid 1279 Apid 1280

Setting up:
Save your current Channel lists and settings

Find and delete your Premiere Sport, Premiere Direkt, and Premiere Erotik channels including Blue movies and Blue Movies Extra.

Save your portals to one of your favourite lists.

Go to the portal of your choice..

Press the yellow button.

A Multifeeds window will appear on your screen, showing the available channels. Give it a few seconds for your receiver to find and scan in the channels.

When the window appears, just scroll down until you see the channel you want.

The Premiere Sports Portal will list what events are showing.

The Premiere Erotik Portal will list the names of the 5 Adult channels

The Premiere Direkt Portal will give you a list of channels with names like D 1 12:00 These names refer to a Premiere Direkt Channel and a start time. It will not tell you the name of the film or event, but they are more easily found than before by consulting the schedule on the Portal itself.

You can change between any of these channels by again pressing the yellow button.

Pressing OK will bring you to the "All Satellite" list. If you're using the compact screen for browsing, press the red button to expand it. Pressing the favourite button "FAV" will bring up your choice of Favourite lists. (It's best to go back to the Portal before changing to a regular channel or ot a different list, as otherwise you may lock up your receiver and will need to reboot.) Pressing OK again on the list from where you started, will bring you back to the Portal,

If you have any questions about this new feature, you can post them
here ....

How to enter BISS/DCW keys on Echolink

This is a very simple process.

Go to the channel for which you want to enter the BISS/DCW key

Select Menu/Tools/Key Editor
Go to the bottom of the Encryption List - the channel name will be there.
Press OK
Scroll sideways for "Constant DW" or "BISS"
Press OK
The cursor will always appear at the end of the character string, scroll right once to get to the start
Enter the BISS/DCW key
Press OK - This will save the key and the channel will immediately open in the background.

At the moment all known BISS keys are embedded in the firmware except for the Swiss channel S2000 on Hotbird 13.0E 11296H 27500 whose key you'll find here:

Rapid TPS AU with EL-777

Echolink receivers, like most AU receivers, will auto-update for TPS on 10873V, but a more rapid update, sometimes as quick as 5 seconds, can be had on transponder 11662V 27500. Try it!

How to fix the Comms Problem.

As many of you will have found, the various communications programs are quite tricky. A sizable minority have been unable to backup their channel lists, myself included, and until now we've been groping in the dark for a solution.

Here it is!

Right click on the comms program in question, select properties, click the "compatibility" tab, and change to Windows 95 compatibility mode.

I've done this for FteMaxeditor and AliUpSpain, and have successfully managed to do repeated backups.
